Neymar Jr.

Three years ago, Neymar Jr. debuted with the National Brazilian Team’s number 10 shirt

A player does not wear the National Brazilian Team’s number 10 by chance. There is a whole symbology behind this number on the team. Great players like Pelé, Ronaldinho and Zico were once the ‘Brazilian 10’. On June 2013, Neymar Jr. wore that shirt for the first time and as the player will soon wear it again, it’s worth remembering.

The player’s debut with the shirt was on Brazil, at the Maracanã, in friendly match against England, in preparation for 2014’s World Cup. With 66 thousand players watching, the player did well inside the stadium, participating in almost every play that generated a finalization during the first 35 minutes of the game. But the goals did not come on the first half.

On the second half, Brazil took pressure from England. Fred opened the score by 13 minutes and the English team turned the tides with one goal from Chamberlain and another from Rooney. Close to the end of the game, Paulinho made the score go equal. The duel ended by 2-2.

Neymar Jr. was the highlight of the friendly game. He sought goals and participated on decisive plays, but, could not shake the net. But it didn’t take long for the shirt number 10 return to its former glory. The player scored the Confederation Cup’s first goal, on the first game of the competition, against Japan. And so a new age start on the athlete’s career.
