Neymar Jr. features in Code.org’s new campaign
Code.org, a non-profit dedicated to taking computer science to students around the world, launched this Monday (5) a new sports-themed code tutorial. Neymar Jr. and many other athletes were featured in the promotional video for the campaign.
Besides Barça’s number 11, athletes like Serena Williams, Kobe Bryant, Sergio Ramos, Sue Bird and Draymond Green were all featured in the new inspirational video for the Hour of the Code, an annual campaign that wants to introduce students to the basics of computer science. In the vide, the athletes encourage the young ones to never give up and keep building new opportunities.
“The future champions will be the creator,” NJr declares in the campaign’s video. The new coding tutorial uses sports as the theme and was developed in collaboration with the NBA and the WNBA, making it possible for students to create basketball, soccer, football and hockey games. After creating their games and apps, students can share them with their families and friends.
“We are thrilled that so many athletes have shown their support for the Hour of Code and the opportunities that computer science can create for today’s youth,” said Code.org founder Hadi Partovi. “These global figures are inspiring to students everywhere, and we hope that the message in the video breaks through to children who may not have thought computer science was for them.”
