Celta de Vigo beats Barcelona by 4-3 at Balaídos
Complicated night for FC Barcelona! The Catalan team lost by 4-3 in a match against Celta de Vigo, at Balaídos, this Sunday (2). Neymar Jr. scored one and Gerard Piqué made two, but it wasn’t enough to get another victory outside home and conquer La Liga’s leadership.
First half –
The game started with a good chance for Barça. After being knocked down in the area, Neymar Jr. made a free-kick that almost went in. With nine minutes, Celta only got to the Catalan’s area once, while the azulgrana dominated the pitch. By 11, Arda Turan made a great Exchange of passes with Luis Suárez, who kicked it, but the goalkeeper got the ball.
Barcelona kept making pressure through a quick exchange of passes, but Celta did not give up and kept up the pace. By 22, after a fail in the defense, by Busquets, Sisto took the chance to kick and open the score at Balaídos. Celta de Vigo started to grow inside the pitch.
30 minutes and the situation got worse for Barcelona. Aspas took the chance in a counter-attack, dominated the ball and scored the second for Celta. In the next minute, not allowing Barça to breathe, Aspas entered the area freely, but Mathieu threw himself to prevent the goal. Out of bad luck, the athlete made an own goal.
The first half was coming to an end and the Catalan team didn’t seem to penetrate the enemy’s defenses and shake the net. With the referee’s whistle, the first step of the game came to an end, as Barcelona lost by 3-0.
Second half –
The second half started like the first one, with Neymar Jr. being knocked down in the entrance of the area. This time, Luis Suárez went for the kick, but the barrier blocked it. Celta de Vigo dominated Balaídos, while Barcelona sought for a space in any way possible.
By 57 minutes, the Catalan found their space. Neymar Jr., in a corner-kick, made a pass for Iniesta to launch the ball in the area and Piqué to headbutt to the goal. Soon after, by 63, André Gomes got knockdown in the area. To score another for Barça, Neymar Jr. kicked it and shook the net.
The game heated up and the pace got tense, with some athletes making too many mistakes. And when things seemed to get better for Barcelona, another mistake drowned them. By 77, Ter Stegen received the ball, waited for the striker to come and tried to make the pass. He messed up the pass and Pablo Hernández took the chance to make the fourth one for his team.
By 86, Barcelona tried to right some wrongs. Denis Suárez ran on the right, avoided all the defenders and launched the ball. Piqué took the chance to jump and score his second in the game. After five minutes of overtime, Barça tried, found spaces and almost scored. But they couldn’t make it. 4-3 for Celta de Vigo.
