Barcelona wins a hard match against Atletico Madrid by 2-1
The classic between Barcelona and Atletico de Madrid was hard at the Vicente Calderon, but in the end, the culés turned the tied and won by 2-1. Rafinha and Messi guaranteed the goals in this importante victory in La Liga. Barça returns to the pitch next Wednesday (1), against Sporting Gijón, also for the Spanish Championship.
First half –
The Atletico Madrid pressured the Catalan Team from the first minute. Barça sought for their space at Vicente Calderón, but the adversary’s defense was a hard one. From 15 to 20 minutes, the cule were forced to close themselves in the defense and contain the rain of kicks to the goal that Atletico made.
At 25 minutes, Griezmann received the ball in the area’s entrance, taking the ball to the center and kicking. Ter Stegen defended what could’ve been the first goal of the duel. But at 29, Barcelona found their first chance in a Exnchange of passes between Neymar Jr. and Messi, where the Argentine decided to kick, but Oblak defended. Suárez arrived to dispute the ball with the goalkeeper, but committed a foul.
And it didn’t take long for Atletico to answer. At 33 minutes, after Griezmann took the ball to the right and kicked, but Ter Stegen defended again. The game got more balanced in the end of the first half, with both teams more effective.
In the last good Catalan chance of the first half, Neymar Jr. made a corner-kick and Piqué jumped to hit with his head. The ball almost went in, but Oblak defended it in the line.
Second half –
Soon at three minutes of the second half, the MSN Trio appeared exchanging passes, leaving Suárez face to face with the goalkeeper. He kicked, but sent it outside. At 51, Atletico Madrid built their careful play and left Griezmann once again ahead of the goal, but Ter Stegen defended once again. The second half maintained the equilibrium of the end of the first one.
But at 63 minutes, luck knocked at Barça’s door. When the ball fell in Atletico’s area, a confusion prevented the kick from Neymar Jr., Messi and Suárez, barricading them all. In the end, it was Rafinha who found the rebound and shook the net. But luck didn’t last long. At 70 minutes, Godin headbutted a free-kick straight to the goal and made everything equal.
The game was getting close to the end and complicated with each minute. The fouls were happening more and more and the tension was getting higher. But at 77 minutes, Barcelona turned the tides. Messi made a free-kick that didn’t go in, Suárez got it and hurled it back to the Argentine, who kicked, missed, but insisted and scored.
After the goal, the Catalan team tried everything to hold Atletico and did it! Finishing a hard game by 2-1.
