Barcelona and Atletico Madrid tie the game at Camp Nou

Despite trying until the last minute, the FC Barcelona made a 1-1 draw with Atletico Madrid at the Camp Nou. Even with Rakitic’s goal and a great performance from the Catalans, the team just couldn’t untie the result. Now Barça will face Sporting Gijón, this Saturday (24), at El Molinón.

First half –

The classic at Camp Nou started slowly. During the first 10 minutes, Barça tried to penetrate Atletico Madrid’s wall, whom made an excelent defense tactic. By 13 minutes, the first great chance appeared out of an Exchange of passes between Neymar Jr. and Suárez, who left the ball with Messi, for the kick. The goalkeeper defended without trouble.

Atletico Madrid kept counter-attacking and taking chances from Barcelona’s mistakes, but the Catalan team seemed to have full control of the pitch. By 30 minutes, Carrasco received on the left and kicked it to the goal. The ball got close, but went out. And by 35, Barça answered after a confusion in the entrance of the area. The ball got left to Neymar Jr., who kicked it correctly, but couldn’t score.

But, after trying alot, Barcelona opened the score. By 40 minutes, Neymar Jr., in the corner-kick position, left the ball with Iniesta, who made an incredible launch for Rakitic to score with his head. After the goal, the game got slower again, until the whistle of the referee.

Second half –

Atletico Madrid started endangering Barcelona’s area right in the first minute with Griezmann, but Ter Stegen defended. Barcelona also gave them a headache in the counter-attack, but the enemy’s defense didn’t let the ball get close. The game got harded for both sides, with the teams accelerating each striking chance.

By 58 minutes, The MSN Trio lost it biggest star, after na injury. Arda Turan stepped in to replace Messi. And when the clock hit 60 minutes, Atletico Madrid took a foul as a chance to tie the game. Ángel Correa received from gabi, entered alone in the area and left everything equal at the Camp Nou.

The match got closer to the end and Barcelona lost the controlo f the game, not finding a good chance to untie. Neymar Jr. even had a great chance to score in two free-kicks, but first the barrier didn’t allow it and later, Piqué sent it out.

The pace got harder, the fouls happened more often and the azulgrana team pressured too much in the area, but couldn’t change the game. And with the whistle of the referee, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid made a draw at Camp Nou.
