The "Neymar Effect" expands units of PSG Academy schools in Brazil
Neymar Jr.’s success at PSG has infected thousands of people to look for something: Football! The club owns the PSG Academy, which is the official school of Paris Saint-Germain in Brazil, aiming to develop the sport potential in young people and since the Brazilian athlete went to the club and took the number 10, the work of the institution grows in the country.
The PSG Academy schools are spread throughout eight states in Brazil: Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Bahia, Rio Grande do Sul, Federal District, Espírito Santo, Pernambuco and Rio Grande do Norte.
Within these eight states, there are 15 units: Barra BNDES, Barra EARJ, Botafogo, Caiçaras, Gávea, Guarulhos, Pompeia, Sumaré, Villas, Porto Alegre, Sinos Valley, Brasília, Vitória, Recife and Natal.
Some units such as Vitória (Espírito Santo) and Sumaré (São Paulo) are recent and emerged in 2018, as a result of the rise of people seeking for schools of the French club, which grew after Neymar Jr. went to the team in the middle of 2017. Natal, in Rio Grande do Norte, will have the newest school, earning a unit in 2019.

In the 12 schools, there are 3693 students enrolled, aged between 5 and 17 years, who follow a methodology created by PSG. Before Neymar Jr. went to Paris, there were four units and 800 children.
According to the Expansion Director of PSG Academy, François Marot, when they ask the children in games and championships what their favorite athlete, the answer is always: Neymar!
