NEYMAR JR’S WAY OF GIVING BACK
He’s a phenomenon on the pitch for both club and country, but there’s certainly more to Neymar Jr than that.
Back in 2014 he opened the “Instituto Projeto Neymar Jr” in Praia Grande, Sao Paulo, the same area in which he spent most of his childhood and also where the global final of Neymar Jr’s Five will take place in July.
“I lived two blocks from here and I know how it was in my childhood, I knew we didn’t have opportunities. So this (the institute) is a giant door for us to give opportunities to the people here.”
The aim is to offer extracurricular educational and sporting activities to the most socially disadvantaged children and their families in the area. The institute offers activities including football, volleyball, swimming, dance, reading, writing and IT amongst others. For the families there are also sporting activities as well as literacy classes, recycling, health and finance conferences.
The project was carried out with invested money and sponsors, and among its supporters are Barcelona and its Foundation.
Neymar said “for me it is a pleasure for the FCB Foundation to be involved with this social project which is a personal one for me. I enjoy helping the boys and girls in the neighbourhood where I grew up. I know that people have been waiting for this project for a long time.”
Neymar Jr, arguably the best footballer in the world right now with a heart the size to match his on field prowess!
