Rio de Janeiro’s Olympic Games are closer and the National Brazilian team has already chosen the ones that will fight for the golden medal. The new coach Rogério Micale announced this Wednesday (29) morning, at CBF’s headquarters, the 18 names selected and Neymar Jr. is among them.

The selected players will present themselves at Granja Comary on July 18th. The last friendly match before the team’s debut  on the competition will be on July 30, at Serra Dourada, against Japan. The Olympic football games will take place between three and 20 of August.

Neymar Jr. and his teammates are part of Group A and they will face South Africa on August fourth, Iraq on day seven and, to finish the group phase, plays against Denmark, on the tenth day.

"I'm very happy to be able represent the Olympic team once again! Now I need to train a lot, help my teammates and get my second olympic medal!"

Besides Barcelona’s number 11, the other two selected players older than 23 are: The goalkeeper Fernando Prass (Palmeiras) of 37 years old and Douglas Costa (Bayern Munchen) of 25.

When asked about Neymar Jr. on the team, Micale said that “he’s a different player and one of the best in the world. Any team in the world would want to have someone with his profile. But we also try to find other players to have leadership. My expectation is that he answers this. He will mean a lot to our team. I hope he can lead the younger ones.”
